Thank you for participating in this survey.
This survey examines the role and value of data from the Integrated Administration and Control System (IACS) in research.
What are IACS data?
IACS is a core administrative system used by EU Member States for the implementation and control of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). It comprises the Land Parcel Identification System (LPIS), the Geospatial (Aid) Application System (GSA or GSAA) and other systems. The data collected in these systems provide spatial and administrative information on, among others, agricultural parcels, land use, and subsidy-related practices, and are used by researchers across various disciplines. You may also know these data under their local names and acronyms, e.g., InVeKoS in German, SIGC, SIPA or RPG in French, etc.
What is this survey about and who is conducting it?
The survey aims to capture researchers' experiences with IACS data, including perceived benefits, existing barriers, and suggestions for improving access and long-term usability for research purposes. It was initiated by a group of researchers from Austria, Denmark, and Germany who are part of the IACS Community of Practice (https://europe-land.eu/iacs-data-community-of-practice/). It was set up by Nevroz Dolu, a Master’s student in the Department of Global Change Geography at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, as part of her Master’s thesis.
Why should I participate in this survey and what will happen with the results?
Sharing your experience with IACS data will help us identify and highlight the usefulness of the data for research as well as common challenges and problems in use that we can then bring to the attention of policymakers. We plan to publish our results in scientific and policy outlets and present them at conferences such as the annual IACS Community Exchange Conference (ICE) by DG AGRI. We will also publish a summary of the survey results on the Europe-LAND project website (www.europe-land.eu) once our analysis is complete.
What do I need to know?
Participation in the survey is voluntary and can be interrupted at any time. It will take about 15 minutes to complete. The survey is anonymous and no personal information about you will be stored in the survey responses unless explicitly requested in a question.
If you used an access code for this survey, you can be sure that the access key was not stored together with the data. It is kept in a separate table and is only updated to record whether you have completed this survey or not. There is no way to link the access codes with the survey results.
