HGM survey 'How's it going at HU?' 2025

'How's it going at HU?'

Welcome to the Hochschulisches Gesundheitsmanagement (HGM) (University Health Managemement) survey at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

On the next page, please select the target group that applies to you. You will then be redirected to the appropriate survey.

• For employees: „Geht’s Ihnen gut an der HU?“ ('Do you feel good at HU?')
• For students: „Geht’s dir gut an der HU?“ ('Do you feel goot at HU?')

Note for student assistants (SHK):

If you work as a student assistant at HU alongside your studies, you are welcome to complete both surveys - once as a student and once as an employee. Your perspective in both roles is valuable!

This survey is anonymous.

The record of your survey responses does not contain any identifying information about you, unless a specific survey question explicitly asked for it.

If you used an identifying access code to access this survey, please rest assured that this code will not be stored together with your responses. It is managed in a separate database and will only be updated to indicate whether you did (or did not) complete this survey. There is no way of matching identification access codes with survey responses.

I) Information

1) What is the Hochschulisches Gesundheitsmanagement (HGM) (university health management)?

The HGM is committed to the health of employees and students at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU). Existing health-related measures at the HU are bundled under one roof, but new services are also initiated according to need. The aim is to shape the university in a healthy way through appropriate sustainable structures in order to enable all university members to teach, research, work, and study healthily at the HU. Further information on the HGM can be found at www.hgm.hu-berlin.de

2) Who will conduct the HGM employee and student survey 2025?

The Department of Sports Medicine of the Institute of Sports Science of the HU is responsible for the scientific research and evaluation within the HGM. Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Bernd Wolfarth as project leader and Pia Knothe as research assistant are responsible for the HGM employee and student survey.

4) Purpose of the data collection

The results, including identified problem areas, serve as a basis for subsequent survey methods, e.g. in conducting a risk assessment of psychological stress in accordance with Section 5 ff. of the ArbSchG, as well as for deriving needs-based recommendations and measures for prevention and health promotion within the framework of the HGM at HU.

Furthermore, data collection and processing serve our own research purposes (including publications, e.g. in theses, publications in relevant journals) in the field of mental and physical health of university members. Both the situational level (working/study conditions and organisational conditions at HU) and the behavioural level (personal circumstances and behaviours) are taken into account with the aim of identifying resources and stressors holistically.

5) Voluntary consent

Participation in the HGM employee and student survey 2025 and the provision of information in response to all questions is voluntary. If you wish to discontinue your participation, you may do so at any time without providing a reason. You will not suffer any legal disadvantages as a result of non-participation or discontinuation.

6) Information on data protection and processing of your data

The survey is conducted using the online survey software LimeSurvey provided by the HU's Computer and Media Service on the HU's servers. No personal data that directly identifies you will be collected and processed. No IP address is stored. Tokens are not used. The survey data includes information about your working or studying conditions, your well-being, your health status and behaviour, as well as structural characteristics such as age, gender, employment group and semester at HU.

After completion of the survey, the research data will be stored and processed by the Department of Sports Medicine at the Institute of Sports Science at HU on a secure drive at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin in accordance with the rules of good scientific practice for a period of 10 years and then deleted from the HU servers.

Access to the research data is only granted to the scientists from the Department of Sports Medicine named under point 2. Other members of the project team from the Department of Sports Medicine are also involved in the processing of the data. The persons who have access to the research data and/or are entrusted with the processing of the survey data are obliged to maintain confidentiality and to comply with the data protection requirements. No data will be passed on to individual departments of the HU or to unauthorised third parties. The survey data will not be linked to other university databases.

The results of the survey are anonymous and are only presented in publications in groups, so that no conclusions can be drawn about individual persons. If a group has fewer than 10 persons, the results are not presented separately, but are included in overall evaluations. Evaluations according to socio-demographic characteristics are only carried out if the respective differentiation comprises at least 10 persons.

7) Publication of results

The survey results will be presented in the form of presentations to internal university committees and made available to the public on the HGM website (www.hgm.hu-berlin.de). In addition, central findings are to be processed in scientific articles and theses. Once the survey has been completed, you will be able to find out more about the relevant studies conducted by the Department of Sports Medicine at the Institute of Sports Science at HU via the HGM website (see above).

Furthermore, it is planned to make the anonymous research data available via a suitable platform within the framework of the FAIR principles.
